Is indeed what you said: Go around and get prices on as similar of vehicles as you can find. They will only go by their OWN books that they choose unless you can come up with a bunch of ads or other proof of similar vehicles in your area that are priced higher. This has worked for friends of mine and I know a guy who used to work for Mercury in SoCal. Their goal IS to lowball you, it's what they do. But if on the first strike you can bombard them with tons of ads and other things that show your truck wasn't the usual bottom basement abused vehicle, you'll be better off for sure. You might not get exactly what you want, but you should get more. Good luck bro and seriously, how did they do THAT much damage? Is that actual damage on things they'd write down or does that include things like lost CDs and such?
